Godwin Otieno mostly known as “Gody” is a versatile and experienced performing artist, choreographer and dance teacher from Kenya currently based in Finland.

His professional performing arts career started in 2009 under the Youth Accosted With Arts program (YAWA) in Kisumu, Kenya.​

He has a background in African dance, contemporary, street, modern and physical theatre. He had the privilege of studying dance through a series of intensive courses, seminars and training led by (YAWA), Dance Into Space (DIS), Godown Arts Centre, Ibuka Dance Centre, Kenya Performing arts Group, Amizero compagnie, Danceteam International, Sarakasi Trust in the East Africa region and beyond.

He has won awards in dance such as World Dance Movement runners up in 2021, Sakata Dance Competition runners up(Yawa) 2011, Hiphop Unite Best Individual dancer 2017.

He has produced, created and co-created currently up to 11 dance projects. He has featured in music videos and performed for music artists, art Institutions, TV Productions, Choreographers, Companies and Directors such as Ooppera Baletti, Tanssin Talo, Danceteam International, YAWA dance company, Sarakasi Kenya, Danceteam Africa, Het Internationaal Danstheater , Amizero Compagnie, Post Theatre and Alpo Aaltokoski Company, Tero Saarinen, Reija Ware, Alpo Aaltokoski, Edu Ooro, Antton Laine, Corneliu Ganea , Wesley Ruzibiza, David Kozma, Hosea Dan, Anna Bussey and many more.

He has worked with Danceteam International franchise and kept weekly dance classes in various dance schools such as Bongos studios, Etnofitness, Hurja Piruetti, Dancest Studios and Viba studios in Finland. Godwin has graced stages in festivals and productions in Kenya, Uganda,Tanzania, Rwanda, Germany, Netherlands and Finland. He was part of ’Umoja Flying Carpet‘ with countries from East Africa, Norway, Netherlands and southern Africa. Godwin continues to research and define his artistry through his experiences and projects
